Kirkland gets uncorked at wine festival
The Kirkland waterfront was abuzz this past weekend for the 2010 Kirkland Uncorked event, benefiting Hope Heart Institute based in Bellevue. The local nonprofit has a 50-year history of revolutionary medical advances and educational curricula that make heart disease more treatable, beatable, and preventable. A portion of the proceeds from Kirkland Uncorked went directly to Hope Heart Institute.
The three-day wine event included an artist lane, car show, tasting garden with food and wine, live music and dog model contest. Top wineries on hand included Northwest Totem Cellars, Whidbey Island Winery, Dusted Valley and Five Star Cellars. Summer cocktails and a beer garden were also on site. Restaurant sampling took place on all three days, courtesy of Hector’s, Lake Washington Technical College, Anthony’s Homeport Kirkland, Maggiano’s Little Italy and BeachHouse Cafe. A grilling stage fired up the taste buds, with live demos from Jeff Soper of Trellis, Naomi Kakiuchi of NuCulinary, Angie Roberts of BOKA kitchen and more.
