Golf Fore Red Tournament
More than 129 players turned out for the day-long event at The Golf Course at Redmond Ridge on July 24.
Along with a fun day of golfing, participants received information about heart-healthy lifestyles and heard testimonials on recognizing risk factors and seeking treatment. Many participants joined the all-volunteer committee by wearing red shirts in keeping with the color that unifies organizations committed to fighting heart disease.
“We’re thrilled with this year’s Golf Fore Red event,” said event chair Mary Robinson, who co-founded the tournament with lifelong friend Shelley French as a tribute to their mothers, who both died of heart disease.

American Heart Association research indicates only 55 percent of women realize heart disease is the number one killer for women and less than half know what are considered healthy levels for cardiovascular risk factors like blood pressure and cholesterol.
The AHA works to educate the community and raise awareness and funding for heart disease research.
