The Freestyle Theory Show on August 29 was a night of glamour, fashion and style. The night marked the end of another successful Fashion Week, placing Bellevue in the spotlight once again.

Hosted at Bellevue’s Hyatt Regency, the hotel was transformed by sweeping, ceiling high purple curtains and waist high, tan and pink silk dividers. Guests ranged from 16 to 60 and their style was just as diverse. Everything from kimonos to blue tulle to houndstooth minis were worn, anchored by the ever popular black heel. Models stood on raised platforms around the bar, and their hair, braided into large headpieces, gave guests a sneak peak of the show.

MC Kendra Todd explained that the show, styled by Zebra Club and 7 Salon (with footwear provided by Report), was a trip around the world showcasing major cities’ street style. Seattle was the first destination, and models strutted down the catwalk to Mike Posner’s “Cooler Than Me”. All the models wore sunglasses and carried clear umbrellas and the women had simple buns and red stained lips. For apparel, women wore plaid and long cardigans with buckled booties, and men wore plaid shirts and skinny jeans.

Next, guests were transported to Tokyo, where break dancers preceded the models. Petite Asian models wore neon eye shadow and sneakers, with gray dresses and slinky harem pants. New York was next, and women with two feet long rope braids walked out to Alicia Keys and Kanye West’s “Empire State of Mind“. They wore neutral colored coats with thigh high boots, fur collars and red lips.

Guests then went over the pond to London, where chunky chains and shredded tights induced a bit of punk. Models hair was teased to the limit and sculpted into gravity defying inverted triangles. Continuing the rebellious look, the British men wore rolled down motorcycle boots and cut up sweatshirts. The final stop of the night was Paris, where models had huge braided buns and nets over their faces, reminiscent of the 20s’ netted hair accessories. Women wore lace thigh highs and cropped jackets with puffed shoulders, while the men wore pointy shoes and sharp blazers. The show ended to “Club Can’t Handle Me” by Flo Rida, as guests made their way to the after party at Pearl.

It was certainly a night to remember.
